Whiney the Cat

I was looking through some of my old photos today, and I ran across this picture of my mom’s cat that we had when I was growing up.

He was originally our neighbors cat, but he spent so much time at our house that we almost felt like he was ours. When his owner moved, he let him stay with us.

His meow was more a whining sound, so my mom decided to call him Whiney. He was a full grown cat when we got him, but he still had some playfulness in him.

Whiney was also a VERY patient cat, which is very evident in the picture above.

And in this picture.

He wasn’t a lap cat by any means- more of a I’m going to lay wherever I want, even if that is on the textbook that you are trying to study from. If he wanted to sit on the couch in the spot where you were already sitting, he would sit on the floor in front of you until you moved. And you would move to because you couldn’t take his incessant gaze.

Whiney was so much fun to have around growing up – and not just for the funny things I could put on his head. After I got married, it was always nice to go home and see him. He passed away in 2003, and it was so weird to go home and not see him there in the kitchen whining for food like always.

Did you have a very special pet when you were growing up? If so, did you stick paper wreaths and hats on their heads?

Important Note: No animals were harmed in the taking of these photographs.
