The Texas Rangers Make History!!!

Last night, I watched history in the making. The Texas Rangers won game 6 in the AL CS series against the New York Yankees. They are heading to the World Series for the first time EVER.

To begin, I will just come right out and say that I am not and have never been a big baseball fan. I have been to a total of two major league games in my lifetime.  I’ve never been one to sit down and watch a whole game on TV either.  But, I must say that the further that the Rangers went in the Post Season games, the more  my interest and excitement grew.

I would find myself drawn into the living room whenever my husband had the game on. Watching a couple of minutes here and there, hoping that they could pull off one more win.

We had the channel turned to the Rangers game tonight, but I was busy with other stuff for most of the first six innings.  I would check the score every now and then just to see how they were doing, but those last few innings had me glued to the couch.  Me, who has never really watched five minutes of baseball, much less 3 innings. I know that is nothing to a die-hard Rangers fan, but that is huge for me.

When Neftali Feliz struck out Alex Rodriguez in the ninth inning,  getting that final out that they needed to win the game, it was unbelievable. Yes, I even learned a few of the players names tonight in the process of watching. I now know who Josh Hamilton, Colby Lewis, and Vladimir Guerrero are. A little late in the game (pun intended), but still.

Our determined Texas Rangers are going to the World Series this year. Even I understand how huge this is. We watched history tonight, and I think we may just see a little history in the coming week ahead as well. Go Rangers!

I’ll be watching.

At least, a few innings of each game anyway.
