The Liebster Award

Hey guys! I hope that you all had a good weekend with your families. I had planned to post this on Friday or Saturday, but it just didn’t feel right after what happened in Connecticut. I’ve spent the last couple of days reading and watching the news. I just can’t even begin to imagine what those poor families are going through right now. It just breaks my heart. I just pray that God will comfort each family and give them the strength to get through this horrible tragedy.

Molly over at Just Your Average Athlete was sweet enough to nominate my blog for The Liebster Award. I hadn’t heard of it before, but apparently it’s for up-and-coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers. Liebster means favorite or dearest in German. That’s your language lesson for the day. Your welcome.

Anyway, I was pretty excited to be nominated and I feel bad that I haven’t gotten this post up sooner. I just felt bad about being happy about getting nominated when so many others were going through something so terrible.

Thank you so much for nominating me Molly!! 🙂

I was almost set to hit publish when WordPress went down, and I lost part of what I hadn’t saved. A little tip for bloggers: hit save frequently. So, instead of getting published at seven o’clock tonight, it was more like ten.

Nominees are supposed to write 11 random facts about themselves and then answer 11 questions asked by the person who nominated them. Here are mine:

1. I have a small red birthmark between my eyebrows.

2. Gone with the Wind is my favorite movie, and I can pretty much cite it word for word.

3. My favorite Christmas movies are It’s a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th St (the original), and Holiday Inn.

4. I’m the youngest of three children in my family.

5. I’m a bit clumsy.

6. I hate trying on clothes, especially jeans. I’m convinced that the dressing room mirrors  are the same ones as in the fun houses. That’s what I choose to believe anyway. 😉

7. I can’t dance. Seriously uncoordinated over here.

8. I didn’t go to my high school prom. See above.

9. Duck Dynasty is one of my favorite reality shows on TV. I love the way they always end the show with a prayer around the table. I didn’t think that I would like when I first  saw the previews, but after a couple of shows, I was hooked.

10. I’m a bit of a germaphobe. Nowhere near Howie Mandel’s level of germaphobia, but still a germaphobe.

11. I’ve never camped out in a tent. My idea of roughing it would be staying at the Motel 6 instead of the Embassy Suites.

1) If you could have any super power, what would it be?

I think it would be kind of cool to be able to time travel. I think that I would just go back in time and not into the future though. Seems like the world was a much nicer and simpler place to be back then.

2) What is the strangest talent you have?

I’m racking my brain, but I just can’t come up with one.

3) What is your dream vacation?

I would love to spend a month exploring Italy.

4) What is the worst injury you’ve ever had?

In my late twenties, I started taking English riding lessons. One day, I lost control of my horse and ending up falling off  while he was at a full gallop. Fortunately, I was wearing a riding helmet, and wasn’t seriously injured, but I was incredibly sore for the next two weeks. It hurt just to get into my car.

5) What do you hope to be doing 5 years from now?

Hard to say. I’ve never really been the type to have a five year plan, so I’m not really sure. My life has turned out so much different (in a good way) than I ever could have imagined, so I’ll just say that I hope I’m enjoying whatever comes my way in the future.

6) Who taught you to drive?

That would be my Drivers Ed. teacher. My first day behind the wheel, I actually ran up into someone’s yard. True story. I was making a right turn, and using the whole hand over hand maneuver (like your taught to), and didn’t get the wheel back straight in time. I couldn’t believe she actually let me keep driving after that! I now let the wheel spin back by itself. Much safer that way. For me and the landscaping. 🙂

7) What is your favorite genre of music?

Country. Love Lady Antebellum and the Zac Brown Band

8) What are you most afraid of?

I’m in my thirties, but I’m still afraid of the dark.

9) Do you speak any other languages besides English?

No, but I would love to learn Italian.

10) Are you lefty or a righty?

I’m a righty.

11) If you could have one last meal, what would it be?

Hmm…hard to pick just one, but it would probably have to be Mexican food.
