I’ve spent the last few weeks taking the Ozeri 4x3runner Digital Pedometer on my runs and wearing it during the day to give it a good test. This pedometer claims to be the “World’s most versatile pedometer” (it features dual walking and running modes), so I was really interested to try it out!

It comes with a lanyard, belt clip and lithium battery.
The instruction manual booklet was easy to understand, so I was quickly able to get started. You can set your stride length for walking and running. If you don’t know your stride length, here’s an article that shows you how to figure it out.
These are a snapshots of a run showing my steps/mileage and of a walk that I did showing my steps/burned calories.
I wore my SpiBelt during my run, and used the belt clip to attach the pedometer to it. It hooked onto it pefectly and didn’t budge during my run. Although, I gotta say that I did feel like I looked like a bit of a running nerd with all of my stuff on. 🙂
What I liked about this pedometer:
I liked how simple it was to set up.
I liked that you could set the stride length for walking and running.
It appeared to work correctly and give accurate results.
How lightweight it is.
It’s a great motivational tool to help you move more.
What I didn’t like:
The buttons- they are so narrow that it was difficult to push them. I’d prefer small round buttons.
Now, for the big question. Would I buy this pedometer?
Maybe. I think it is great for walking or daily activities. I also think it would be great for track workouts where a GPS based running app obviously isn’t necessary. As for my long run days, I prefer using the running app on my phone. If you hate carrying your cell phone on your runs though, then this could be a great alternative.
