Low-Carb Diet (Day 16) and The Grey

Just in case you are new here, or haven’t been here in a while, you may be wondering what’s up with all of the low-carb posts. If so, you may want to go back and read my post on the new focus of my blog, where I detail why we are currently on a low-carb diet.

Have you guys seen the movie The Grey yet? We rented it on ON Demand the other night. I thought it looked pretty good when I first saw the preview on TV, but I wasn’t sure. The biggest selling point was that it had Liam Neeson in it. We really liked his movie Taken, so I thought this one might be good too. I do have to say that I don’t think I will be watching his movie Wrath of the Titans, no matter how much I like him as an actor. Not really my kind of show.

Anyway, back to The Grey. I thought it started out a little slow, but it got more interesting as the movie went on. I do think that Liam Neeson really carried the whole show, and that without him, I wouldn’t have liked it as much. I wasn’t really familiar with the other actors, except for Dermot Mulroney, who looked so different from the way I am used to seeing him look. I don’t want to say too much, but it ended kind of the way I thought it would. Overall, I liked the movie, and would recommend seeing it, if you haven’t already.

Breakfast of the day: Repeat of yesterday. 2-egg omelet with orange slices. (recycled pic)

Lunch was leftover turkey patties with pepperjack cheese melted over the top, plus some mixed veggies seasoned with a little butter and soy sauce.

Snack of the day: fiji apple slices with almond butter. Yum!

Sadly, this was the last of the almond butter. 🙁 Think I may just have to get a little more next time we’re at Kroger.

Dinner was a low-carb version of my Buffalo Chicken and Barley Chili. It’s one of my husband’s favorite meals, but I had to make a couple of changes to make it lower carb and grain-free. I replaced the carrots and barley with a couple of zucchini.

We didn’t have any blue cheese, which is amazing with this chili, so I used a mexican cheese blend. I also threw a few pumpkin seeds on top. I really liked the texture that the pumpkin seeds added to the chili.

So good. I think I actually liked it even better this way, so I will definitely be making this version again.

Have you seen the movie The Grey? If so, what did you think of it?
