Liebster Award!

Hey guys! Hope that your year is off to a great start! I was recently nominated for a Liebster Award by the super sweet Julie over at Running Along blog. Thank you so much Julie!

For those of you who don’t know, a Liebster Award is an “award” that bloggers give to up and coming bloggers or to someone they think deserves recognition for their blogging. Liebster is a German word meaning dearest. It’s also a great way to possibly discover a great new blog to read!

Rules for the Liebster Award

Write 11 random facts about yourself.
Answer the 11 questions given by the person who nominated you.
Create 11 new questions.
Nominate 11 bloggers and mention them in your post.
Thank the person that nominated you and tell the people you’ve nominated.

Random Facts

I have 3 nieces and four nephews.

I was a preschool teacher for a couple of years during the time we lived in Oklahoma back in the late nineties.

My maiden name is Beckham. Like David Beckham. It would’ve been handy if he’d been famous back when I was growing up. It’s tough on a kid when they have an unusual first name and an uncommon last name growing up. 🙁

Including Texas, I’ve been to 15 states here in the United States. I’ve also been to Mexico.

I once had a dream of working as a cast member (one of the princesses) at Walt Disney World. Oh, who am I kidding? It’s still one of my dreams! 😉

I like playing board games and party games. Catch Phrase has become a new favorite.

I enjoy watching re-runs of shows like Frasier, Friends and Seinfeld. I’m not a big fan of any of the new sitcoms. They just don’t make great shows like they used to.

One of my favorite subjects in school was American History. I was fortunate to have a great 8th grade history teacher. Thank you, Mrs. French!

My favorite types of music to listen to are Christian and Country. I’m a huge George Strait fan!

I like dogs, but I’m really more of a cat person. I would love to adopt a cat from a shelter!

I love staying in nice hotels, but I would love to take an RV trip across America.

The Questions

1.Why did you start blogging?

I did a little blogging starting back in 2006, but I didn’t really have a clue what I was doing back then so I gave it up. Inspired by some of the blogs I was reading, I started blogging again at the end of 2010. I honestly enjoy writing, and I’ve learned so much through my blogging experience. I like to share what I’ve learned through my journey into a healthier lifestyle and hope that I can help inspire others to live a healthier life!

2. What is your most memorable race/fitness accomplishment?

That would definitely be my first half-marathon! It took every bit of strength I had to complete that race, and I was pretty proud of myself for finishing.

3. What is one goal you have for 2014?

I mentioned this in my last post, but one of my goals this year is a sub 2:00 hour half-marathon.

4. Name one non-fitness related blog you follow.

DIY Playbook. It’s written by a couple of best friends who share their love for antiques and decorating their homes on the cheap.

5. What activities will be involved on your dream vacation?

My favorite place to go on vacation is the beach, so boogie boarding would definitely be on the agenda. Eating some great meals is also a definite must on my dream vacation.

6. Did you play any sports growing up?

No organized sports for me. I did play football, baseball and badminton with my family and neighborhood kids.

7. When you were in kindergarten, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I don’t really remember if I wanted to be anything at that age or not. I do know that I wanted to be a horse show jumper for a lot of years when I was younger. I was crazy about horses back then and still love them to this day!

8. What is your favorite book?

I would have to go with Gone with the Wind. It’s my favorite movie also!

9. What is your biggest strength?

Hmm, is stubbornness a strength? It’s gotten me through some of my races and through some of life’s toughest moments, so I’ll go with that. Weird how one of my biggest strengths has at times been one of my greatest faults.

10. Describe the best date you ever went on.

That would probably be my first date with my husband. We went out to dinner, played putt-putt golf (I got a hole-in-one!) and went to see Forrest Gump. Yes, our first date was that long ago. 🙂

11. If you could live anywhere in the US, where would you live?

Even though I love the the beautiful scenery and weather in California and Florida, I have to go with my home state of Texas. I may be a little biased, but I think it’s the best state to live in here in the US. Now, if we could we could just bring the awesome weather of California to Texas, it would make it absolutely perfect!

Since I have done a couple of Liebster Award posts, I’ve decided that instead of nominating eleven other bloggers, I would make my readers my “nominees”. Answer a couple or all of the same questions that I answered or shout out some random facts about yourself. I love learning about my readers! Thanks again, Julie!
