Five Things I’m Loving Lately

Happy Friday, y’all! It’s been several months since I did a 5 Things I’m Loving Right Now post, so I thought I”d share a few of things that I have been enjoying more recently. Hopefully, we’ll also finally be enjoying more Fall-Like temps this weekend if the weather guy is right. Yay!

PROBAR Fuel Bars

{From my Instagram}

I’ve tried a whole lot of different energy bars, and these are by far the best to me. I’m not usually a fan of fruit bars because they tend to be way too sweet for me, but this one is just right. I also feel more energized throughout my run with these. One of the best things about them is that they are gluten-free and Non-GMO, which is something you don’t find in a lot of the energy bars on the market these days.

I’ve only tried the blueberry flavor, but they also have Cherry, Strawberry and Cran-Rasberry. Some of the Whole Food’s stores carry these, and some don’t. If you are in Texas, they can be found at Central Market as well.

ProBar Bolt Energy Chews

I don’t use energy gels or chews all the time, but I do need them for some of my longer runs. These orange flavored chews taste really good!

Eating on the Wild Side

I found this book in the cookbook section of our local library. It’s written by Jo Robinson, who is the founder of the Eat Wild website. This book is not a cookbook, but it does have a few recipes scattered throughout the book. This book is all about how to shop for, store and cook different fruits and vegetables in order to get the most nutrition from them. It’s a lot of scientific information, which I thought might be boring, but it’s actually really interesting. I’ve learned several things that I didn’t know already.

Like this FUN FACT: “Cooking potatoes and then chilling them for about 24 hours before you eat them (even if you reheat them) turns a high-glycemic vegetable into a low- or moderate-glycemic vegetable. Paradoxically, combining potatoes with oil (French fry alert!) helps keep them from disrupting your metabolism”.

I had no idea! Seriously, I highly recommend this book! This is just my own opinion of course, and the link above is NOT an affiliate link.

I’ve been drinking more tea than coffee lately, and this is one of the reasons why!

Numi Roobios Tea

The Numi Roobios tea is fantastic! It’s a Red Tea, and it has the most gorgeous color after it steeps. It has a very pleasant taste, and I don’t need to add any type of sweetener to enjoy it. Roobios tea is full of antioxidants and is supposed to have many health benefits. The Numi brand is Non-GMO project verified, and is on the Food Babes list of approved brands of tea.

The last favorite thing is a video that I have watched probably twenty times, and I still laugh out loud. Dogs are hilarious!
