Hey guys! We are in the middle of an ice storm here in the DFW area, so I’ve been cooped up inside all day. I can’t wait for all this ice to go away, so that we can get out. In Texas, an ice storm is considered a big deal, and a lot of area businesses and schools close. To all of you that had planned to run the Dallas Marathon and Half-Marathon this weekend, I feel for you. I know that it has to be incredibly disappointing to not be able to run the race this Sunday.
A picture of the ice on the street outside our apartment.

I thought I’d give an update as to what I’ve been up to lately, besides hibernating in my apartment. 🙂
Foot Injury
After a few weeks off from running, I’m happy to say that my foot is feeling much better. I have gone for two short runs recently and felt pretty good. The nice warmer weather we had on those days didn’t hurt a bit. The day before the freezing rain started, I was enjoying a run with temps in the upper 70’s. Crazy!
Christmas Fun!
Last weekend, my parents came up to see us. We decided to go the Home for the Holidays event going on in downtown McKinney. I’ve written about it before when it was known as the Dickens of a Christmas.

A new addition to the downtown area is My Favorite Room, which was formerly in downtown Plano. This shop can also be called my favorite store in downtown McKinney! This store has beautifully displayed furniture and home accessories. This shop is a retail addition to their design business, KBM Designs.
From their blog: “We love to make old pieces new again! We specialize in unique character furniture, bedding, and home accessories”.
Reindeer: Dasher and Donner

There was also a small petting zoo for the kiddos. How cute is this miniature donkey?

Have you been to any Christmas events so far this year?
It’s good to hear that your foot is feeling better. Yesterday I ran in shorts. I’m pretty sure that I’ll be as bundled up as possible next time, though. Such a sudden change!
The weather has just been crazy! I’ll be so happy when all this ice is gone, and I can get back out and go running again. Preferably in shorts weather! 🙂
The Home for the Holidays event looks like it was fun! I’ll have to remember that one for next year. And I definitely need to check out that store!!
Hopefully we’ll get some sun tomorrow to help melt that ice! Stay warm!
